The Knight of Cups follows gracefully, like flowing water. And the Knight of Swords, whom we have met before, charges forward like a storm at full speed with his sword pointed straight ahead.
However, the fourth knight does not move. Sitting on his black horse, he simply looks down quietly at the gold coin in his hand. Even as the other three knights disappear into the distance, he remains right where he is. He is the Knight of Pentacles. Out of the four knights in the Tarot, he is the only one who does not move at the starting signal.
Why is Only This Knight Standing Still?
This is no coincidence. The Knight of Wands gallops through the desert, the Knight of Cups journeys along the river, and the Knight of Swords charges through a storm. But the black horse of the Knight of Pentacles has come to a complete halt in the middle of a plowed field.
It is not because this knight is lazy or cowardly. In fact, it is quite the opposite. He already knows exactly what he must ride toward, so he feels no need to rush.
